The country is not what it was...
2004-02-15 - 1:56 a.m.

Ah, if you're not interested in Australian politics then just skip this one.

In many ways today was a bloody depressing day. But, sometimes the internet has a magical way of making things alright again.

Here's a kick in the guts for you, Mr Howard:

And how about another one while we're at it:

Dear me, you're still alive! Here, how about this:

All this breathing, Mr Howard! Tsk tsk, let's see if we can put an end to that, shall we?

*beatific smile*

That last article doesn't really do justice to what a great news story this is... Howard on TV, big smug smile on his face, shaking Afkos' hand, saying what a great man he is and how pleased he is to have him in the Liberal party... meanwhile newsreader's voiceover is telling us all the sordid details of drugs being found in Mr Afkos' car... what they really needed to add, though, was the footage of Howard from a week ago standing in front of a sign saying "Tough on Drugs!". That would've been a beauty.

-

Mustn't get too confident. Liberals were dead in the water before the last election and then the Tampa thing happened and they romped in on a wave of xenophobia. But I can hope, can't I?

From that vulgar, high and mighty nigger-lover, never

Never

No the country is not what it was" - Stephen Sondheim
